The Frugal Admin: Don't spend a penny, use what's already out there

There are many, many free and useful tools and templates for WSS administrators out there, just waiting for you to find them.  Say you need to create a new user group site, or your managers want you to create a time sheet site to track each department's hours on sharepoint related projects. Maybe your IT department wants their own helpdesk site. Before you start either trying to create those yourself, or finding someone to pay to do it-- consider looking online at the resources already available from Microsoft and Codeplex. With the Fantastic 40 templates, Groupboard 2007, and the Community Kit for SharePoint, you've probably got all bases covered, and then some-- for FREE. So before you start making promises to anyone, stop by this session and get a glimpse of the good stuff, and discover all those pre-made templates before the need to make your own wears you down.

It is Flu Season – How is your SharePoint Farm feeling?

Over the past couple of years one of the most common requests Shane has received at SharePoint911 is server install/configuration validation. And through these reviews he has found some very common mistakes and some very bizarre things. So, Shane is going to show the COSPUG what he does when he conducts a server review. During the monthly COSPUG meeting, Shane will point out the little nooks and crannies to check for problems and things that are just good ideas. This one should be quite interesting to see the progression and you may even pickup a tip or two along the way.

Join us on April 16 for Deploying Executive Dashboards using SharePoint 2007’s BI Capabilities

An executive dashboard can provide a quick reading of how your organization is performing in key areas.  SharePoint Server 2007's BI capabilities--including Performance Point Services now bundled with MOSS--provide tools to easily deploy scorecards, dashboards and advanced analytics across the organization.

This presentation will introduce the process of building a SharePoint hosted dashboard using SharePoint, PerformancePoint and Excel Services. We will explore the building blocks of a dashboard: KPIs, reports and scorecards and provide some insights on how to use the tools most effectively.
